I'm going to Philmont Scout Ranch this summer. Does anyone have any advice for preparation for the trip as well as things to keep in mind while I'm there?
Also, I really want to be able to take pictures over my trip. What would you recommend the best way to do this? Should I bring a bunch of one-use cameras, or should I take my digital one with extra battery packs and keep it in an underwater casing for protection?

With any long trip, you will need to prepare ahead of time. You will need to be in good physical condition, if you are not physically active, start now. Some long walks, simple exercises like sit-ups, push-ups and pull-ups will be helpful. Pack your pack with the gear you will be carrying, and take some practice hikes on the week-ends. You will want your hiking boots well broken in prior to the trip, if you need to get new ones, start wearing them long before the trip so that they are well broken in and watch for potential blister spots.
As for pictures, go with the camera you are most comfortable with. Myself, I choose the disposables, as you will really want photos of your crew mates. While the scenery is fantastic, unless you are a professional photographer, you won't be able to capture the scenery as well as the postcards and picture packs you can buy at the gift shop. HOWEVER, you won't be able to get pics of your buddies at the gift shop, so concentrate on these images. Photos of the crew at breakfast, navigating the trail, or resting after the day. Capture the images you want to remember. Have the camera easily and quickly accessable so that you can capture the candid photos.

Boy Scout Troop tracking software?
I have been looking for a good Boy Scout Troop tracking software for some time now. The best one I have found is Scoutmate:

Does anyone know of a good *updated* program that will keep track of the boys and adults, advancement, finances, events, etc. all in one program?? I would prefer it to be free, but will certainly look into pay for programs too.
Also, I have already looked into TroopMaster...that is a possibility, but I also want to see what other options are available.

Jason Taylor 1997 Draft Day Pick
Jason Taylor was born on September 1, 1974 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Due to his athletic ability, size, and smarts of the game, Taylor has molded himself into one of the best defensive players that the NFL has ever seen. Although his football career did not start out as strong, it was Taylor's determination that allowed him to reach all of his goals.
A little known fact about Taylor is that he was home schooled from 10th to 12th grade. But although he did not go to school for class, he was still allowed to participate in sports at Woodland Hills High School, a few miles outside of the city of Pittsburgh. While in high school Taylor was a standout player in both basketball and football.
Although Taylor had a successful high school career, he did not get many scholarship offers from major colleges. So he decided to take his game to the University of Akron, located in Akron, Ohio. While at Akron he began to show the same time of athleticism as he did in high school, and by the time his college career was finished many NFL scouts had begun to take notice.
The Miami Dolphins selected Taylor with the 73rd overall pick in the 1997 NFL Draft. Although many teams passed up on his services more than once, this did not get Taylor down. He knew that he could compete at the NFL level, and he began to show this early on in his career.
In 2006, Taylor had his best season ever. He finished with 13 ½ sacks, two interceptions, and 10 forced fumbles. This led to him being named the AP Defensive Player of the Year.
Jason Taylor is the perfect role model for young players who may be flying under the radar. Although he did not get a lot of attention out of high school and college, Taylor still found a way to realize his dreams.

Simply go to your local library and look for old copies of the guides in the NHL, which usually are included in there. I knew a guy named Les Widdifield, said he was an NHL scout. I did not believe him. While in a library in Boston some years ago, I saw a whole shelf of ............ NHL's annual guide, and indeed there was Lester Widdifield, appears as a scout for the Devils in 23 consecutive editions of the guide (still is a recruiter of demons under the guidance of 2009). Some teams just a list of their browsers head, and most computers only a list of explorers full time. I too have searched website .............. in vain. I have also searched the websites of broadcasters old, old television and radio stations, etc to no avail.

I want to be an explorer of college basketball / coach?
but I have no exp playing ... only love for a game, and some great knowledge ... im 18, and starting school in about 2 months .. this is hard work to get creditibility not play? IM getting my degree in sports management, and i plan on being a basketball coach instant messaging, both in this year, JUCO, and then when I go to a univ, plan to be a coach there too .. to be good enough? hope I can come back after graduation. and be an assistant coach at the school of my old school .. any input is appreciated and thanks in advance. my goal is yak4life419 if anyone is ready to chat live to me.
My coach in college has yet to even play in HS and got a job finally D1, however, that is the exception not the rule. Try to become a manager or student asst. to then go to graduate school and become a graduate assistant. Soak up as much knowledge as possible. Furthermore, in HS or D2 or D3 you will have to teach what a degree that allows you to teach is important. Get your teachers if possible.

How can my man make money doing a hockey related job?
My fiance studies hockey constantly. He is more than a fan, he could draft teams. He has been a player in his youth and has read many books and does a lot of research. He has had blogs online and has a serious passion for the sport. The question is, how does he turn this into an income? He has had jobs all of his life but he can't be happy until he is doing something hockey related. He would make a great scout or writer or coach or ref but these jobs are so rare to come by and when you do find one, they want years of experience. Please help.

Pune Forging Units Seeking for Investors
After reeling under the adverse impact of the decline in the global auto market for the past few months, the crisis-ridden small and mid-sized forging units in Pune are contemplating on selling stakes to strategic buyers to raise liquidity.
Industry experts believe that the severe credit crunch and the fear of permanent closure have prompted the city’s forging companies to look for investment partners. The investments firms could provide adequate funds to assist the forging companies to better sustain their business.
Declining auto sector impacts forging industry
The auto sector is currently going through a tumultuous phase. Given the immense dependence that the forging industry has on the auto sector, a decline in the latter has resulted in a negative impact on the former as well.
“Over 70% of the production from the Pune forging sector goes to the commercial vehicle segment. However, following the decline in demand for auto parts in the global market, small as well as mid-sized forging firms have been severely affected. Companies are struggling to stay afloat due to the demand slump and credit squeeze. Thus, they have begun scouting for partners that would extend credit and marketing support to run their operations amid the slowdown,” says Nitin Bhave, MD, AUTOMAG India in Pune.
A majority of the forging units are also planning to enter into tie-ups and partnerships with foreign investors and multinational companies to sustain their production.
Liquidity crunch compelling units to turn to investors
Since the last financial year, output levels in the forging industry have drastically dropped and export volumes have also plummeted due to the plunging demand for auto components.
“Dwindling business volumes and sluggish sales growth have forced most of the forging units in Pune to temporarily cease operations, while those still functioning have begun revamping their production schedules. Some units are operating at 20% to 30% less capacity due to the fear of inventory pile-up,” says SR Somavanshi, Secretary, Association of Indian Forging Industry (AIFI).
Saddled with under utilisation of capacity and lower operating profits, a number of units in the Pune forging industry have declared bankruptcy over the past few months. With banks and financial institutions reluctant to lend to these units, the forging units are left with no option but to look for investors and buyers who can help them tide over the crisis.
