Expanding the portfolio of business to build a stronger business
Ever met someone who wanted to stop doing something, but it never seemed to be able to completely turn the switch to disengage from the behavior pattern?
Maybe he got into a habit of stopping at a donut or a cheese steak on a route back from a trip, when they intend to do a better job of watching their diet.
Or maybe he spent the money in your business before it was collected. And even after being burned once or twice and realized of course that money was not yours to spend until the check cleared the bank still make decisions which left them overwhelmed and at risk.
Ron was caught in a "me first, Be the first to" habit when I was hired to train to grow your business. The problem was that as fast as he brought business in the front door, which had staff members leaving for back door.
Ron is spectacular as the first over when it comes to hiring a new employee, responding with a proposal, and even negotiating a lease. It is refreshing to work with someone with so much energy and concentration.
The other side of the coin is that he was burning himself and his staff for going after all in one speed: the speed of light.
We talked about the cost of carrying out all the red-hot intensity and how can lead to health risks and tension in your company. We talk about the first experiences that had rewarded him for being fast - talking fast, think fast and act fast. No surprises here: it won prizes and awards in Cub Scouts all the way through high school and college and was a behavior associated with positive results.
Einstein said: "You can never solve a major problem in the same level that created it."
Tracks needed to change dramatically, because he had about himself and run your business to death in this paradigm of adrenaline.
I asked him if he knew what the bird has principles, and immediately replied that the early bird always has the worm.
"Entrepreneurs are a little different, "he explained." Too often, we are like a mouse looking for cheese. And that requires more cunning and intelligence than mere speed. A mouse cheese is looking for risks to consider and weigh various benefits. "He nodded along, trying to figure out where this conversation was leading but did not know the line of Steven Wright was about to lay on him.
"Ron, the early bird may get the Worm, but the second mouse gets the cheese. "
We laughed a lot, and most importantly, he got the role of risk.
Even now that will reduce gear in neutral and tell his staff: "Perhaps we'd better check to improve the safety of cheese."
Sometimes it's best being the second mouse, it is always better to have a range of options and approaches to enter. Expand their repertoire and you build a business stronger.

solving problems through Venn diagrams?
in a troop of 64 scouts, 37 years had won First Aid Merit Badge, Rescue 26 won Merit Award, and 12 won two of these plates. How many scouts had won: First Aid, but not saving lives? Lifesaving first aid but not? At least one of the badges? None of the plates?
For first aid to save lives, but not we just have to know all the people who received first aid cards (37) and subtracting all the people who received badges and distinctive life-saving first aid (12), giving us 25. To save the life but not in first aid, we just have to know all the people who received salvage cards (26th) and subtracting all the people card receiving rescue and first aid badges (12), which gives us 14. At least one of the badges, which can add all the people who received either one of the badges (37 + 26 = 63), and subtracting all the people who received both (Because we are counted twice). That is 12, so 63-12 = 51, so 51 people have at least one card identification. For any of the badges, we take the total number of campers and subtract those with at least one plate, which is 51. So 64-51 = 13, and 13 people has no plates.

I'm not sure where you live, but a good project would be to collect the cards of the aluminum cans and donate to the Ronald McDonald house in your area. If they can give you contact with small houses made of cardboard boxes that are displayed larger than) for having and raising in schools and offices to ask them to put the chips in the boxes. Us money to help pay expenses of families who are here for the free, when a member the family is in serious condition. Several of these homes, but I know who have worked with the Redlands. Also again in Los Angeles, Fred is the Mission Jordan, home to homeless families during the holiday season that is looking for toys for children. Me and my husband walk with thousands of other Harley riders and make a toy drive every year. This is organized by the Glendale Harley shop. There is also a mission of downtown Los Angeles that feeds the homeless all time and while I do not think that is good for young children going to feed the homeless, could be good for them to make sandwiches, or burritios and go with the group for that purpose. Also maybe get the wrong time can make a jacket / blanket drive (gently used or new), these are much appreciated. Remember that some children are living there. What might be a good idea to check with a shelter near you and see how it can be asssistance. Finally you may be able to contact with the local Fire Depts. and see if you can make a teddy bear drive for them and collect them and deliver them to children who lose their belongings in a fire or a tragic event of some kind, also the local Police Depts. do this. There are many things you can do. Whatever you decide will be great. Oh then there are the hospitals and universities of life that can appreciate the blankets you make of the new felt prints and tie, or sing carols at senior centers. I made many of them with my Brownie troop. The elderly really hoped that our visitors. We received a call each year to ask if they would return. They would have cookies and hot chocolate for the girls later. my parents and kids loved it. Good luck, hope that helps, thanks for teaching them to be involved:) Also
