Kindergarten Daisy Scout?
Hi, what does my Kindergarten Daisy scout work for next year when she reamins a Daisy in the 1st grade...She has already earned All her Petals, She has almost finished the Journey Patches and has filled up her back of her vest with fun patches and the school year is not even over yet?
I was told with the new Rules Girls Must be a 2nd grader to be a brownie a 2008 new rule
The reason the program requirements for age have changed is because at the brownie level, girls should have a fairly firm grasp on reading and math. Also, since brownies used to include 1st through 3rd graders, it was sometimes difficult to find projects that were achieveable and interesting to all the girls...age 6 and age 9 are a huge difference.
In getting to your specific question, I was a little curious myself as to how there was enough of a "program" for Daisies to keep occupied for 2 years. Hopefully, in years to come they will add more to the program for them. In the meantime, I would probably spend a lot of next year going over the same material, making sure they have a really firm grasp on what all the aspects of the girl scout law and promise mean. Do a service project or two...they aren't too young that they couldn't help clean up the playground or help plant flowers in the school or church's garden. Do more art projects; they don't have to earn a patch for EVERYTHING they do. Plan their first backyard camp out. Go bowling. Get creative.
