Summit Foundation announces $500,000 in grants

At its December Board of Trustees meeting, The Summit Foundation Board of Trustees allocated $500,138 in grant awards to 42 nonprofit agencies providing services in Summit, Grand, Park, and Lake Counties.

“The Foundation is pleased to partner with these nonprofit organizations that provide vital services and improve the quality of life in Summit County and our neighboring communities,” said Jan Coles, Chair of The Summit Foundation Grants Committee. “In recognition of the challenges many families are facing in this difficult economy, in this grant cycle, the Committee emphasized support for agencies that provide for the basic needs of individuals and families.”

The Summit Foundation awards grants in June and December. With these recent distributions, a total of $831,367 was awarded to 85 nonprofit agencies by The Foundation in 2009. In addition, $144,378 in college scholarships was awarded this year to graduating high school seniors and college freshman, sophomores, juniors and seniors.

“The Summit Foundation is proud to be able to make these grants in this challenging economic environment,” noted Cary Cooper, President of Board of Trustees of The Summit Foundation. “This distribution is significant in thanks to the generous support we receive from all of our donors.”

New to the grant program this fall, The Summit Foundation specifically partnered with Vail Resorts on grants totaling $117,510 to four nonprofit organizations, the Family and Intercultural Resource Center (FIRC), Summit Community Care Clinic, Early Childhood Options and Summit Prevention Alliance.

Many of these grant awards are made possible by the generous contributions made by our local ski resorts through their annual donation of transferable ski passes (medallions) which result in over $700,000 in contributions to The Foundation each year,” said Cooper. “This Fall, The Summit Foundation worked with Vail Resorts to establish a more official program to recognize their commitment to The Summit Foundation and to this community.”

The funding was allocated in six major categories. 53 percent of the funds awarded went to 14 health and human service agencies that received $263,000. Nine organizations offering educational programs and services received $73,968. Eight art and culture organizations received a total of $69,350. Three environmental organizations received a combined total of $12,000. $21,500 was awarded to four nonprofit sports and recreation organizations. In addition, The Foundation presented $15,320 to three nonprofit organizations responsible for programs or projects in Grand, Park and Lake Counties. Grants were awarded from The Foundation and several donor advised funds including The Lenzmeier/Williams Advised Fund, Summit Association of Realtors Charitable Fund, The Eileen & Paul Finkel Advised Fund, Keltner Family Fund, The Millisor Family Fund, The Oshlo Family Fund, The Jack and Pat Thomas Arts Fund and The Howard and Sue Carver Healthcare Fund.

“The Summit County and neighboring community nonprofit agencies also need to be recognized for their tremendous efforts in providing programs and services to all sectors of our community,” notes Lee Zimmerman, Executive Director.

The Summit Foundation is a community, public foundation dedicated to improving the quality of life for residents and guests of Summit County and neighboring communities. Since it began making grants in 1986, The Foundation has awarded $11.6 million in grants and scholarships. The cornerstone for The Foundation's fundraising efforts is a transferable ski pass provided by Arapahoe Basin Ski Area, Breckenridge Ski Resort, Copper Mountain Resort, Keystone Resort, Winter Park and Vail and Beaver Creek Resorts. Additional funds are raised from a variety of annual special events including The Summit Foundation Celebrity Golf Tournament, The Summit Foundation Mountain Art Gathering, the Summit County Parade of Homes and the Rubber Duck Race. Additionally, funds were raised for The Foundation this past year through events sponsored by NRC Broadcasting, Grand Lodge on Peak 7 and other local businesses.

Usually have a history of sexual abuse history or violent. Children from child predators will "target" for many at the same time. His words are cunning and take time to "groom" their victims. "Grooming" is done by showering their victims with gifts, tokens of affection and all which can, in order to build trust and a relationship with potential victims. Once trust is built, blackmail and guilt are sometimes used to make the child to succumb to their demands.

The Internet Child Predators use any or all of these techniques online. Often times conceal their age and they are about the same age as his son. It stems from the websites that most children and teens regularly visit. Hidden behind the screen your computer, waiting patiently and then attacking their prey, our children.

Guitar Problems. I need help fast!?

Dehumifier I need if I put the guitar in a week. I will explore the field of the week and no electricity for the whole week aviable. I live in Pa, and I will camp here for. Easlily moisture may reach 80%, and the camp in the mountains can get much worse. The guitar will stay in a rigid economic case, not when playing. If the guitar is placed in either a canvas tent, Adirondack or shed (a type of permanent housing that contains 4-9-cotsIMPORTANT this shelter has only 3 walls paticular esentially making this an open space.) Adirondack Google shed if curiosities. My local music store does not carry dehumidifiers, because most housholds (almost all) have air conditioning, and it is not uncommon for People need one, as most guitarists do not bring camping. Demand is low. Thw owner of the music store said no one asked one of each month. Proposed the purchase of silica and in bags of food packages in line inside the case.

It seems to have answered your own question. Simply go to a local music store of your choice and buy a dehumidifier. The end. Plain and simple.

At first glance, have a tummy tuck at the same time that hysterectomy may seem a concept whose time has not come, [**] on second thought, the idea seems almost natural. Having the 2 procedures done at the same time, all it means halving. The lady just go under anesthesia once and only have to go through recovery once. An extra benefit for some women can be who gets the stomach with hysterectomies may reduce the tax burden this procedure. Upon leaving the recovery room with a flatter stomach can provide a psychological boost too small.

What are prerequisites for the combination of an abdominoplasty (known in medical parlance as an abdominoplasty) with a hysterectomy? First, and most significantly, women must receive the absolute approval and cooperation of the surgeon performing a hysterectomy. Although most doctors are not played the 2 can be done at the same time, there are some additional risks. Some doctors may be unwilling to subject their patients to the most danger. Abdominoplasty is not certainly secondary operation and in no way interfere in the main proceedings. In some cases, getting the physician performing the hysterectomy to go along with the doctor performing abdominoplasty will be no problem at all, there are doctors who do both. Most women are probably not going to find a doctor willing to multitask Thus, although the task becomes second imperative for 2 physicians to coordinate their schedules. They may also have to invent the routine by which the 2 operations will be conducted. In order to keep the patient under anesthesia for the shortest time possible [**] As can be organized on 2 Doctors will work in unison. The work of the gynecologist who naturally have a dominant position over the plastic surgeon.

Before surgery occurs, a child undergoing both procedures at once will have to check with your insurance company. Stomach surgeries are rarely, if ever, covered by insurance. Although many of the costs can be rolled with the cost of hysterectomy, it is essential the insurance company shall be informed beforehand.

Trying to burn a walk for abdominoplasty in the back of hysterectomy without first talking to the insurance company could have dire financial results. A child must also remember that despite all you have to go through recovery once, could be more painful and exhausting for recovery of 2 procedures at the same time. Folds of the stomach can be unbearable

First one or two days after the operation, but also can cause fatigue and depression, including minors. Well, the return of a hysterectomy is even more difficult. All these problems could be fired by direct reduction or cessation of hormones that may accompany some forms of hysterectomy. However, a girl facing a hysterectomy who want to have a stomach tuck at the same time, in essence, would be ready to do so. Coordinating the 2 procedures will take some effort. Recovery can be a lot more difficult.

However, for some of the benefits of having a tummy tucks at the same time as hysterectomy may exceed the disadvantages. Thus, if a girl is of the mind, you need to get on that network and start scanning plastic surgeons who are up to.
